"In the Pink"...meaning...in perfect condition...especially of health.
The leaves of the Acer negundo Flamingo that I have chosen for the tree following meme are now fully open revealing their pink edging...
...pretty in pink, nicely contrasted by the copper beech in next doors garden.
Flamingo is in the Oriental Garden, this is the new gravel river...
...flowing from the bamboo water spout, backed by two Cranes, those Japanese symbols of good fortune.
Somewhere to sit and relax..... (In the pink!)
Where are you sitting... ('In the pink'?)

A lovely colour accent! And I love your gravel river. It's a tribute to the naturalness of the design that I have to ask: is the water recirculating, and if so, how?
ReplyDeleteThe water recirculates, there is a reservoir below the bowl containing an electric water pond pump.
DeleteMy Flamingo tree looks very little like yours; it has the pink-edged leaves but has no sign of actual flowering stems coming from it. Where have I gone wrong? Yours looks wonderful and as you say, the copper beech sets it off to perfection. I love the bamboo pipe and river - my visiting birds would love this - and it would be so nice to listen to splashing water when I sit outside.
ReplyDeleteThe flowering stems are in fact new leaf growth. I pollard the tree every spring which I explain in: http://ourgarden19.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/tree-following-january.html It is nice to sit in the garden and listen to running water.
DeleteThank you for visiting Our garden@19
It really is quite pretty, and the setting is lovely too. The bamboo water feature and cranes are very calming. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Cathy, it is a calming area in the garden.
DeleteI love your oriental garden. Those pink leaves are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chloris. It is a lovely tree to have in the garden.
DeleteIt's not just the tree that is lovely, the whole area is lovely and I think you've got it just right Brian. Perfectly in the Pink!
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie, the design of the Oriental Garden is down to Irene, I just follow instructions in this part of the garden.
