  1. What a beautiful bird.
I'm noticing the nuts and seed disappearing at an ever increasing rate now.

  2. I agree with Jessica, a beautiful bird. It's great to see all our birdie visitors returning to our gardens at this time of the year. It surprises me just how aggressive some of the smaller birds can be.

  4. Hi Brian, where is the 'Tweets Diary', I've google that and its coming up as a twitter thing. Lovely to be visited by a Blackcap,I am fairly sure we are yet to be visited by one in the winter time.

  5. A most attractive little bird Brian - sadly not a regular visitor to our garden. I'm engaged in a battle royal at the moment trying to thwart the grey squirrels who forage all the food we put out for the birds.

    1. Squirrels can be a real problem with eating bird food. A neighbour of ours has successful used one of the seed feeders that closes when anything heavier that a bird climbs on to it.

  6. Hello again, Brian :-) I smiled on reading this was your first winter visitor and a beauty she is too. Coincidentally, like you, I began my blog in November and a Blackcap pair were my first new winter visitors ... however it took them until Jan 1st to arrive in my garden. Seeing the male (I've noticed more aggressive than the female at the feeders) first I had absolutely no idea what bird had made a short visit and took video captures to help ID it. I was stumped until the female came in and I saw her chestnut brown cap head. I'm still taking images and trying to ID birds 8 years on and enjoying it. Blackcaps usually appear here en route somewhere else and if we are lucky we see them for a week at most - that's usually on colder winters too. Enjoy your winter visitor!

Thank-you for the very kind mention on your Tweets Diary page and the link across to my blog too! It's always nice surprise when a blogger does this :-)

    1. The female is always the first to arrive in our garden. They came for the first time, four years ago, during the very cold winters.
