Hanley Open Gardens Spring Bank Holiday Weekend 2016

The village of Hanley Swan has for the last five years held, in its current format, an open garden festival over the May Bank Holiday Weekend in aid of the village church.
This year 20 gardens were taking part, there was a variety of different shapes, styles and size.

Different symbols were posted outside each garden, ours was a hare...

...where visitors were greeted by pots of tulips along side the alpine boxes...

...here Pulsatilla vulgaris is enjoying what little sunshine there was...

...the parasol on the patio served more to keep the rain off than the sun...

...the pear blossom looked wonderful...

...as did the tulips in pots, from left to right, Queen of the Night, China Pink and Princess Irene.

Braving the cold weather was the alpina Clematis, 'Pamela Jackman'...

...'White Moth'...

...and high in the Liquidamber tree, 'Boughton Bride'.

There was enough water over the weekend without the water features...

...this is a new bird bath incorporating a running tap in the 'Woodland Walk'...

...which is the area for the new Bug Hotel being developed by the Granddaughters...

...wellie boots were certainly de-rigeur over the weekend.

I planted this basket to go to the RHS Malvern Spring Show, this weekend, on the Gloucestershire Federation of Garden Society's stand to promote the Black Pear Gardening Club, whilst we are in Worcestershire, the GFGS has members in neighbouring Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Now all we have to do is prepare for the Hanley Swan NGS Group open gardens on the 11th& 12th June.  You can find us here:   NGS Open Gardens
